Technical milestone: First functional HEIONTEC button cell battery
HEIONTEC has reached a key technological milestone: for the first time, a fully functional button cell based on its proprietary TEC-G technology has been manufactured and successfully tested in the laboratory. This means that an independently produced, standardized cell format is now available, which forms the basis for performance validation, long-term measurements, and preparation for pilot production.
Under comparable test conditions, the button cell achieves the same electrical performance as previous laboratory cells. This proves that the thermo-electro-chemical operating principle is not tied to individual laboratory setups, but can be reliably transferred to a compact and reproducible cell geometry.
The first HEIONTEC button cell thus confirms both the reproducibility of the material and the transferability of the technology to an industrially relevant standard form factor. At the same time, it enables standardized testing under realistic conditions for the first time and creates a reliable basis for comparison for further optimization.
This step marks the transition from experimental laboratory development to the scaling and industrialization of HEIONTEC technology. The button cell forms the technical basis for validating long-term stability, near-series production, and subsequent integration into applications such as energy-autonomous sensor technology, IoT systems, and existing energy storage devices.
