POWERED BY HEIONTEC: A New Power Source for Wireless Sensors

TEC-G Cells for Integration into Sensor Systems

HEIONTEC is developing TEC-G cells in a pouch format for ultra-low-power applications that, in combination with power electronics and a buffer storage system, make it possible for the first time to harness ambient or low-temperature heat to power energy-efficient sensors.

Together with Celtrix, HEIONTEC is developing reproducible prototypes and preparing scalable cell production. In parallel, we are working with OEMs and electronics partners to integrate the cells into real-world sensor systems.

Building Automation

Building Automation & Smart Buildings

Power supply for wireless indoor climate, occupancy, and building sensors, where regular battery replacements result in high operating and maintenance costs.

Condition Monitoring

Condition Monitoring & Industrial IoT

Power supply for condition, process, and machine sensors, particularly at measurement points that are difficult to access or widely dispersed.

Smart Metering

Smart Metering & Grid Monitoring

Power supply for wireless measurement and monitoring systems in utility networks and technical infrastructure, where a reliable, low-maintenance, long-term power supply is essential.

When is HEIONTEC the right choice for your application?

This technology is particularly interesting for sensor systems,

  • that operate in the ultra-low-power range,
  • measure and transmit data only periodically,
  • whose power spikes can be buffered,
  • where batteries must be replaced frequently or with significant effort,
  • and where ambient temperatures of 10° Celsius or higher are present at the site of operation.

Less maintenance

With wireless sensor systems, the greatest costs often arise not from the battery itself, but from access, labor, and potential operational disruptions during replacement. HEIONTEC develops TEC-G cells for the long-term power supply of ultra-low-power sensors to reduce battery replacements and the associated operating costs.

Fewer Batteries and Less Waste

Every battery replacement that is avoided saves on materials, transportation, and disposal costs. TEC-G technology utilizes ambient heat and is based on widely available materials. The goal is to create a resource-efficient energy source for the long-term power supply of wireless sensors.

Energy at hard-to-reach measurement points

TEC-G cells harness thermal energy from their surroundings—without requiring a temperature gradient, light, or motion. When combined with power electronics and a buffer storage device, they are suitable for energy-efficient sensors at hard-to-reach or widely dispersed measurement points where battery replacement is particularly time-consuming.
